Focus MIND MAPPING

Essay

ART, CREATIVITY, and MULTIMEDIA

Art and creativity are the cornerstone of my life… and for me to say that art has no value would be an admission that my life is without value. Cosmically speaking, my life may be insignificant—but you won’t ever find that sentiment supported in my actions and personal beliefs!

Any form of creative art is immensely valuable in an emotional, sentimental and cultural way. Art enhances our ability to communicate ideas and feelings in ways that words fail—how and why this is I am not capable of explaining. But there is definitely something very powerful in a well wrought painting, musical score, photograph, movie or poem; an image of an anguished child wrapped in a blanket of dirty rags and ailing with empty eyes may touch us in a way that the words “The kids are hungry” cannot.

There is something more poignant about sensations (images, sounds, smells, feelings) than abstractions. The artist who learns the lesson of “Show, Don’t Tell” has taken one step into the realm of wise master.

While no individual piece of art is, in my opinion, eternally and objectively more valuable than the next, there is something called “great art” that sets apart from juvenile art. I cannot define the criteria—but I can tell you when I see or hear it! Of course, the problem is that my definition of great art may not equate to yours or the next critic’s opinion.

Art serves as a powerful motivator, more for the artist than the critic and reviewer—and probably more for the artist than the fan. An artist is something of an obsessed fanatic forever on a quest to create the most compelling and moving piece of art. An artist grows through his art; each new piece extends the limit of who he is and who he will always be. Artists seek longevity and even immortality through their art! With each new piece of art finished, an artist has refined the definition of who he is—for now anyone who sees or hears his results will know something of the creator and his vision and hopes and fears.

Being creative is, in itself, a valuable talent and trait. Creativity is a gift of humanity that is only minimally known outside our species. It is the very reason of our success in all areas of life—even beyond art. Creativity is the trait of humans that allows us to take what we have and make something new and novel. Business, child-rearing, science and technology all rely on varying levels and kinds of creativity for success. Art is just another form of creativity—sort of an unleashed and unpredictable oracle built into our genes.
I believe that the main value of art is in its process rather than results—that the act of creating new things expands us and teaches us new ways to reach goals. Being creative is the true value of being artistic. This individual process of growing through creative arts helps us produce varying new vistas on humanity that can further help the next generation grow in its own world of creative art. In such a view, the individual growth each artist achieves increases the whole culture, because it helps fill the world with gifted environments that encourage young artists to seek their own artistic journeys.

Methodology

We choose Random Word for our methodology
SITUATION or PROBLEM            : Art as Multimedia
RANDOM WORD              : River

          River
STRONG

                                                                          FLOW

                                                                          FRESH

Explanation:
a.    STRONG         : Art as multimedia should be strong enough, like have a special characteristic. To be a good artist we supposed to have a character in every single artwork that we have done. So there is no one can do plagiarism of our work.
b.    FLOW              : The developing of art as multimedia is flow like a river that always show or come out with a new idea continuously as water in the river that is never stop to flow. Also always improve from in the past to the present even to the future.
c.     FRESH             : Art as multimedia always comes out with a new and unique idea, fresh idea like something that we can feel if we see the river. No bored because we see a new thing that can make our mind becoming fresh.

IDEA GENERATION

STRONG art as multimedia

FLOW art as multimedia

FRESH art as multimedia

FINAL ARTWORK

After we make our idea generation we start to make our final artwork with combine that
With have done and arrange them in to some of moving picture
Like movie but we done it in the power point

First thing that we made is sketching about our final work to made easily for us in arrange the image…this is some of the our sketch for it,,

Lesson 5

Juxtaposition 2

Definition: A placing or being placed in nearness or contiguity, or side by side; as a juxtaposition of words
analogy:
1. Metaphor
2. Similes

Categories of Analogies
There are many different categories of analogies, which will prove to be very useful in the idea generation process. For the purpose of our course we will introduce only two different categories of analogies, which are;

LOGICAL ANALOGIES
Logical analogies are analogies, which use similarities in the design, structure or function of to connect back to the subject. For example a   duck can be compared to a hovercraft because of the fact that both of   them can move on the surface of land and water. Another example is   the comparison of the whale and a submarine, where both can dive to   great depths but still need to surface for air. (Sourced from: Nicholas Rourkes’ Art Synectics.)

AFFECTIVE ANALOGIES
Affective analogies are the emotional resemblance. The clearest   example is the use of an animal to explain a certain characteristic of a person. This type of analogy is used most frequently in conversation to emphasis certain points. For example, he is like a pig (because he is lazy), she is like an ant (because she is hard working), he is like an owl (because he is wise), etc. This type of analogies uses the intrinsic values of the object as a comparison.

Lesson 4

Juxtaposition 1

Juxtaposition can be defined as placing two variable, side by side and their contrast or similarity are shown through comparison. Many creative processes rely on juxtaposition. By juxtaposing two objects or words next to each other, human brain will automatically associate or transfer meaning. Usually ‘turning’ something familiar to something less familiar or vice-versa.

Juxtaposition may refer to:
1.Juxtaposition (literary), synonymous with contrast, two objects or texts that oppose one another
2.Random juxtaposition, two random objects moving in parallel, a technique intended to stimulate creativity

Lesson 3

Mind Mapping

Mind mapping, introduced by Tony Buzan is a great tool for idea generation and brainstorming. It enhance both sides of the human brain and widely used in taking notes, research or generating new ideas. A creative Mind Map is able to stimulate and create interest to the individual and also to the viewer.

Logical Mind Map
The Logical Mind Map is directly connected to stereotypes. The Logical mind map comprises of solely stereotype words. Which means that every word or image that is put within the mind map is directly related to the central subject through its links.
Associated Mind Map (Will be explained and elaborated by RadziBedu)
Using an associated mind map we are able to generate random words and also show the links between words that seemingly have no connection.

The Rules Of Logical Mindmapping
Always have your SUBJECT in the center of the page.
Try to make the subject more dominant than the rest of the words and images in the mind map.
Decide on the main categories of the subject before executing on mind map.
Try to have the different categories in different colors, to make it easier to identify.
Try to use drawings or images to make your mind map more interesting and personal.
The ideal mind map should be shaped like the roots of a tree, branching out from a center.
It is OK to repeat words or even interlink certain words.
Try to make your mind map neat and easily legible. REMEMBER one of the aims of the mind map is to create interest and to be able to access information easily.
Benefit of Logical Mind-Mapping Technique;
• It is a concise way of listing and categorizing a mass of information.
• The relationship between each word will help trigger memories and greatly reduce the amount of note taking and assist in the understanding of the subject.
• The more interesting the mind map the greater the interest that the on looker will have in the information.
• The usage of images along side with word will again create interest for the mind map as well as assist in triggering a memory of the  subject.

week 2

Novelty, Creativity, Innovation and Invention

The creative person is one who generates new ideas while the creative process is how these new ideas, solutions, and inventions are produced. It is said that, we are all naturally creative.

"Being creative is seeing the same thing as everybody else but thinking of something different"  (Shekerjian, D.1990).

Creativity is the process of generating something new that has value. There are many new ideas and concepts, but some may not have value and hence may not be considered creative. A creation is something original that has value. (Haggins, 1995)

novel idea that create changes to culture is also known as creativity in a capital “C”. Individual creativity, which serve personal satisfaction and fulfillment also known as small “c” creativity.
Creativity and Innovation are often used interchangeably but they are very different parts of the same process. Creativity is the process of coming up with ideas, and it can best be defined as problem identification and idea generation whilst innovation is idea selection, development and commercialization. In other words, innovation is the process of turning ideas into practical reality. (Herrmann, 1999)

Defining novelty

Novelty is the quality of being new.

Innovations are divided into two broad categories:
 (a)   Continuous evolutionary innovations result in an alteration in
product characteristics instead of in a new product, and do not
require any user-learning or changes in his or her routine,
examples are multi-blade shaving razor, fluoride toothpaste,
  and laptop computer;
  (b)  Dynamic continuous evolutionary innovations require some
user-learning but do not disrupts his or her routine, examples are fax machines, instant photography, a handheld computers.
There are four types of creativity. Creative people fall into these
four catagories:
1.Aesthetic Organizers.
2.Boundary Pushers — those who take an existing idea and push it a little further.
3.Inventors — those who take existing knowledge and create new ideas — the Edisons of this world.
4.The rarest group: Boundary Breakers — the Leonardos and the Copernicuses.

Week 1

"weird but interesting" these are the first words that came out of my mouth( actually my mind) at the first of the first class of the first week of the first subject of the first trimester of my beta year where I first saw the lecturer of the creative studies subject who was standing and talking to the chairs while we were seated at the back of class watching him with a big question mark above our head. :d. After some minutes it was not weird anymore but still interesting because he made us all sit in the front row ( which I had never experienced that before) just by talking to the chairs and telling them "they are so far away so I hardly can see them. Then he start introducing himself and asked us to introduce ourselves but in a funny way and then he started the lecture ( but I am still not sure if it was lecture or some funny conversations between us, anyway we all enjoyed it). the lecture was about definition of creativity. He defined creativity as an ability to think up and design new inventions, produce works of art, solve problems in new ways, or develop an idea based on an original, novel, or unconventional approach.  The question was what is creativity? Is it an ability, attitude or a process. From what I learned in that class I can say creativity is about all of them. If I want to define creativity, I would say that : it is an ability that we can earn by processing a lot and will become an attitude or maybe creativity is  process of bringing an ability into our attitude.

"Creativity is allowing your self to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep."
Scott Adams
